IMBOVANE AFRICA (Pty) Ltd t/a Decoseal Guarantee Terms and Conditions

Extent of our Guarantee:

  • This Guarantee covers the following Decoseal products: Decoseal Brick and Block, Decoseal Roof Coating, and Decoseal Plaster Products.
  • Decoseal Brick and Block: 12-year guarantee
  • Decoseal Roof: 12-year guarantee
  • Decoseal Plaster Seal: 12-year guarantee

This Guarantee applies to the owner of the premises where the Decoseal products are applied.

Conditions for the Guarantee:

  • The Guarantee applies when the product is applied correctly and reinforced with membrane. In the event of product failure:
  • The total purchase price of the product(s) must not exceed R10,000 (including VAT). If the total exceeds R10,000, the consumer must contact Decoseal prior to any work being performed for an inspection.
  • Decoseal will provide replacement products for necessary reapplication to repair any failure, as determined by Decoseal.

Definition of Product Failure:

Product failure means:

  • Moisture ingress or dampness caused by cracking, puncturing, or peeling due to insufficient preparation.
  • Does not apply to areas with long-term ponding water or flat roofs with poor drainage.

Exclusions:

  • This Guarantee does not cover indirect or consequential damages.
  • It does not apply to products exposed to extreme conditions such as acid rain, mechanical damage, neglect, or acts of God.
  • It also excludes failure in difficult-to-paint areas, areas with poor surface preparation, or areas prone to electrochemical action.

Commencement and Duration of Guarantee:

  • The Guarantee begins on the date the consumer registers the product with Decoseal and provides proof of purchase.
  • The duration of the Guarantee depends on the product purchased and is outlined in the product section above.
  • The Guarantee period will not reset after settlement of a claim unless a complete reapplication is required.
  • The Guarantee is valid only for products purchased and applied within South Africa.

Accredited Applicators:

  • For claims to be honored, Decoseal products must be applied by an accredited applicator. Claims will be inspected on a case-by-case basis at Decoseal’s discretion, following the guidelines provided.

Liability and Legal Responsibility:

  • Liability Scale:
    • The first 12 months: Full product replacement cost.
    • 13–24 months: 85% of product replacement cost.
    • 25–36 months: 70% of product replacement cost.
    • 37–48 months: 65% of product replacement cost.
    • 49–60 months: 60% of product replacement cost.
    • 61–72 months: 40% of product replacement cost.
    • 73–84 months: 20% of product replacement cost.
    • 85–120 months: 10% of product replacement cost.
    • 120–132 months: 5% of product replacement cost.
    • 132–144 months: 5% of product replacement cost.
  • Decoseal reserves the right to:
    • Alter product specifications without prior notice.
    • Appoint contractors/applicators at its discretion.

Claims and Repairs under Guarantee:

  • Claims must be made in writing within 30 days of discovering defects, damage, or failure.
  • The consumer must notify Decoseal and allow inspection before any repairs are made.
  • Decoseal will control the repair process and appoint an approved contractor as necessary.
