How To Apply

Application Procedure

Please read and follow all the steps carefully to ensure optimal performance.

1. Surface Preparation
Proper wall preparation is essential for successful application, although it is not complicated.

i) Thoroughly sand all areas where existing paint is bubbling, cracking, peeling, or flaking until
    you reach bare cement.
ii) Areas where the existing paint is solid, well-adhered, and intact do not need to be removed.
Decoseal may be applied directly over these areas once clean and sound.

iii) Important: All loose or defective coatings must be removed. Failure to do so may result in adhesion failure.

2. Crack Filling and Waterproofing

Any cracks or repaired areas must be waterproofed before applying Decoseal. There are three acceptable methods:

Option 1: Waterproof Crack Filler. Use a high-quality waterproof crack filler suitable for cementitious substrates.
Option 2: Crack Filler Modified with Decoseal. When mixing a standard crack filler with water, add a small amount of Decoseal into the mixture.
This modification will improve the waterproofing properties of the filler.
Option 3: Plaster Primer Sealing. Apply a solvent-based, high-quality plaster primer over the cured crack filler. Allow the primer to dry for a minimum of 17 hours before applying Decoseal. Note: All crack repairs must be fully dry and sealed before coating.

3. Product Mixing and Handling

Decoseal behaves differently from conventional paints and requires continuous attention during application. Stir the product continuously during application. Decoseal is a low-viscosity (runny) product, and its different resins can settle quickly. Always stir thoroughly before each decanting into a tray or container. Do not assume the product remains mixed after standing, even for short periods.

NB: Failure to stir continuously may result in colour variation and inconsistent performance.

4. Application Area Requirements

Decoseal must always be applied to the entire affected area, not just visibly damp or damaged sections. Do not spot-apply only over damp patches, bubbling, or flaking areas. Moisture will migrate and reappear adjacent to treated sections if only partial areas are coated.

Application Guidelines:

i) Rising Damp. Mark a horizontal line approximately 1.5 meters above ground level. Apply two
full coats of Decoseal to the entire area below this line.
ii) General Wall Dampness. Prepare and coat the entire wall surface with two full coats of
Decoseal. Moisture will always seek an escape route. After treating a full wall, monitor
adjacent side walls for any signs of dampness migration.

5. General Notes

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry (where possible), and free from dust or loose material before coating. Apply according to recommended environmental conditions (avoid rain or excessive moisture during application and drying). Follow all safety instructions as per the product SDS.
